A Luxury Weekend Away @ The Bingham Hotel, Richmond

The Bingham – A beautiful boutique hotel with views of the River Thames!

The Bingham Hotel is a pretty Grade II Georgian Townhouse located in the leafy suburb of Richmond and offering stunning views of the River Thames.  The Bingham is conveniently located, being only 30 minutes from London, and close to many nearby attractions such as the Royal Parks, Kew gardens and Hampton Court Palace.  My sister had booked the Bingham for her wedding venue, so we had the opportunity to stay here for a couple of nights and see what they had to offer.  On arrival, we were greeted with a friendly smile from reception and check in was very swift.  We were allocated the Atthis room on the first floor.

This luxury boutique hotel has 15 chic bedrooms and 11 of the 15 were refurbished earlier this year.  The refurbished rooms are bright, modern, contemporarily designed using sustainable materials and soft luxury furnishings.  Some of the rooms even have a large copper tub.  Oh hello!

The Atthis room was a large double room, furnished in neutral colours, with reclaimed furniture from the markets and fitted with all the mod cons.  The only negative thing I would say about this room is the view of the road and opposite properties is not so attractive but we didn’t spend much time in our room anyway 😉 – however there are rooms in the hotel which do have a lovely view of the river.

The bathroom was marble cladded from floor to ceiling, with a large walk in shower and lovely smelling organic toiletries were provided too.

My sister and her husband stayed in the Baudelaire room which was huge to say the least, fitted with a copper tub by the window to admire the river views whilst enjoying a relaxing soak.

• Complimentary Wifi
• Tea and coffee making facilities
• Inroom safe

Our stay included an extensive breakfast selection which was served in the restaurant – great to set you up for the rest of the day.  The cold selection included, croissants, pastries, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, cereals, ham, cheese and a selection of fruit juices.  We were also able to order food from the breakfast menu which included a Full English Breakfast, Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, Smoked Salmon and Hot Porridge Oats.

The first morning Ian and I opted for the tasty full English Breakfast (with an extra side of hash brown) … why not!  The Eggs Benedict was really yummy too, with the perfect ooze from the egg.  Lovely!

Restaurant

The restaurant area has a retro feel to it, is bright with delicate chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and offers a relaxed ambience.  Guests are also able to dine on the outside terrace which overlooks the river.  The restaurant serves British food using only the freshest ingredients.  

Unfortunately we didn’t have a the chance to enjoy an evening meal at The Bingham, however we’re able to tell you about the food at the wedding breakfast!

To start, we had the delicate and fresh Scottish gin cured smoked salmon with bergamot puree, beetroot, cherry radish and dill lemon crème fraiche.  I could have had another plate to myself!

Next was the juicy beef served with a wild mushroom pithivier, onion puree, glazed baby carrots, shallots and tarragon jus.  The wild mushroom pithivier was divine!

We had a light and refreshing dessert of strawberry parfait, honeycomb, yogurt jelly and strawberry sorbet.

To end the meal, a mini cheese course served with oat cakes and fresh strawberries.

The restaurant is ideal for a romantic meal or even a lazy Sunday brunch.

Bar

The bar is very chilled and relaxed with coffee, light bites and afternoon tea being served during the day.  We did enjoy a lychee vodka martini cocktail one evening – so delicious that we enjoyed a few more!  There are also a few seats outside on a small terrace to enjoy that late sunset.

Activities

• There are Bingham bicycles to hire for exploring the area including the 2500 acres of royal parks.  
• Take a visit to Hampton Court Palace, the Ham House and Strawberry Hill House.
• Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew, which is London’s largest World Heritage Site.
• Why not hire a Pleasure boat and cruise along the river.
• Or just relax for a moment and pop into any of the many bars, cafes and restaurants dotted along the riverside and watch the world pass by…

Our stay at The Bingham was very enjoyable and relaxing.  The staff were friendly, professional and courteous.  The Bingham is perfect for a romantic getaway or a weekend break away.
