This easy to follow recipe for homemade spaghetti bolognese is perfect for an evening meal and great if you’re looking to batch cook. So simple to make and is absolutely delicious.
Add oil to the cooking pot
Then add the chopped onions and sauté until slightly browned
Add garlic and the finely grated carrots for 3 minutes and continue frying
Add the beef mince and cook until brown
Add the tinned chopped tomatoes and stir. Don't forget to add a little water to the empty cans to get the last bit of all the juices out.
Add the white wine, beef stock cubes, dried herbs, spices, milk and brown sugar. Stir the mixture
Add the finely sliced mushrooms
Add water if mixture too thick as it will reduce down when cooking
Bring to the boil then turn down the heat to simmer for a couple of hours
These are the ingredients I use but feel free to alter the amounts according to your taste or omit or add any other ingredients you specifically like in your Bolognese!
Add water to the saucepan and bring to the boil
Add the dried spaghetti to the boiling water
Turn the heat down to moderate and cook for around 10 minutes or until the spaghetti is 'al dente'
Fresh spaghetti cooks faster than dried so around 2/3 minutes depending on amount
Note: You can either add the spaghetti to a portion of the bolognese sauce to cook or boil in water separately.
Serve with a good sprinkle of parmesan cheese and a side of garlic bread... Mmmmmm
